Equality and Diversity Policy

Aims 

Sufi Festivals (also known as Sufi Festival) is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Scottish Charity Number SC047975, is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, respect and positive relations for all people.

The Equality and Diversity Policy is in line with the Equality Act 2010 and sets out the guidance on our commitment to challenging discrimination, preventing harassment and providing inclusive services.

Scope

The policy is relevant to all members of Sufi Festivals (SF) and all groups and individuals which SF works with.

Inclusion and respect

SF is committed to creating an atmosphere of friendship, respect and care for each other and will not tolerate any sexist, racist, transphobic or otherwise offensive and inflammatory remarks and behavior.

We will hold meetings and events in venues that are accessible to all including wheelchair users.

All volunteers and any paid staff will be treated fairly and with respect.

Training and awareness

SF will provide all members with a copy of this policy and provide awareness session so that everyone is familiar with their responsibility.

Dealing with discrimination and harassment

SF will take prompt action on any alleged discrimination, victimisation or harassment.

Any person who experience this should inform the chairperson of the SF.  The complaint will be investigated and opportunities provided for the person making the complaint to speak in a safe environment about their experience.

The outcome of the decision will be binding on all concerned.

Review

We will review this policy annually to ensure that equality and diversity is applied to all our activities.
