As a grassroots, community-focussed charity, Sufi Festival’s goal is to increase participation of Muslims in the arts and to bring the beauty and wisdom of Sufism to a wider audience. To this end, we are planning to open a Sufi Arts Hub in Glasgow, providing high-quality arts provision and cultural intervention all year round.
We see the arts and culture as vital spheres for personal and collective healing for BME, Muslim, and other underserved communities. They also provide a joyful, safe space to break down barriers, tackle racism and prejudice, and improve community cohesion.
In this work we are guided by the principles of love and universal understanding that are at the heart of Sufi Islam.
The Hub
The Sufi Arts Hub in Glasgow will be a combination of both a physical venue and an ongoing programme of activities based there, providing artistic development opportunities primarily targeted at the Muslim community, but open to all those with an interest in Islamic arts and Sufism.
We are deeply invested in nurturing Muslim arts and artists as a community, and have been lucky enough to host some of the most established and sought-after artists within the UK Muslim arts scene, such as Khayaal Theatre Company and Peter Sanders, photographer, as well as singer-songwriters Pearls of Islam, Nasheed singer Khalid Siddiq, and many more.
In 2025 and beyond, we hope to bring major names from abroad, as well as promote new voices. The Sufi Arts Hub will offer an ongoing programme of participatory arts activities as well as an active community of engagement in Sufi arts, capable of contributing to and integrating with our biennial festival programming.
