Esma Uğurluoğlu

Turkish artist of Ebru, traditional paper marbling

Esma Uğurluoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1992. She studied Tezhip (Traditional Illumination Art) at the Faculty of Traditional Turkish Arts, Sakarya University. During her undergraduate education, she also received training in bookbinding, miniature painting, calligraphy, tile art, and marbling (ebru) at the Sümbül Efendi Foundation. Since 2016, she has been living in England, where she conducts art workshops at various institutions and organizations. She also sells her artworks under her own brand, Esmarengiz Design. Esma is an artist who believes that art is a universal language that connects cultures. Her mission is to preserve and pass on the rich heritage of traditional Turkish arts by bringing beauty into people’s lives.
