Dawud Duncan
Dawud Duncan (Whistles, voice, bodhran, story and Mandola) is a well-kent face on the Scottish festival and session scene. A prize-winning traditional singer, storyteller and virtuoso whistle player, Dawud has performed with acts including Gaelic Singer of the year Griogair Laubhridh; Morriscan sufi collective Al Firdaus Ensemble; and festival punk-folk favourites The Ramshakle Band.
Dawud embraced Islam in 2006 while DJing for Scottish Hip Hop group NorthernXposure (Glastonbury, BBC culture Show) and began finding commonality between his religion and his rich cultural upbringing in the West Highlands of Scotland. Through his traditional music story & song Dawud hopes to challenge false narratives of East/West division – and welcome all to come together as human beings.
